The air in the abandoned warehouse hung thick with the scent of decay and stale oil, a fitting mausoleum for secrets best left buried. Dust motes danced in the single shaft of moonlight that pierced a grimy window, illuminating Jibril and Mallam Idris as they moved with the practiced stealth of predators. Each creak of the floorboards, each rustle of unseen vermin, sent a fresh jolt of adrenaline through Jibril’s veins. This was it. Minister Adebayo’s name, a phantom whispered in hushed tones, kept surfacing in his thoughts. The man was a viper, a master manipulator, and Jibril’s journalistic instincts screamed that Adebayo was the architect of this nightmare.
