The roar of the crowd was a familiar, intoxicating wave, washing over me as Jaehyun hit the final, impossibly high note of our comeback song. His eyes, usually so filled with playful mischief, were focused, intense, and for a fleeting second, I swore he met mine. Then it was a blur of flashing lights, deafening cheers, and the dizzying rush of stage fever. We bowed, breathless and exhilarated, the echoes of their adoration a tangible thing in the air. Backstage, the usual controlled chaos reigned – stylists fussing, managers barking orders, the air thick with the scent of hairspray and success.
"You were amazing out there, Rumi," Jaehyun said, his voice a low rumble as he passed me, a quick, encouraging smile gracing his lips. My heart did a little flip-flop, a familiar, embarrassing reaction I’d long since tried to suppress. He was my bias, my ultimate K-pop crush, and now… he was my partner. My fellow huntx.
"Thanks, Jaehyun-oppa," I managed, trying to sound cool, professional, like the seasoned idol I was supposed to be. Inside, I was still that fangirl who’d dreamt of his voice, his smile, and now, his whispered secrets of a hidden world.
