Chapter 8
Kael, Eron and Liora continue their journey helping villages. Kael struggles with controlling his two-colored flames but learns to use the green flame for healing. They discover a village where children have been turning into stone, and Kael must use both flames to undo the curse. The chapter ends with a mysterious figure watching from the shadows.
We walked for three days after the wolf. Three days of dust, sun, and Eron's terrible jokes. I'd learned to tune him out, but Liora kept laughing, which only encouraged him.
"You know," Eron said, scratching his scarred chin, "when I was your age, I once fought a storm. A literal storm. Lightning bolts and all."
"And you won?" I asked.
