The Final Light
Kael leads the rebels in a final confrontation with Riven. With Liora's knowledge of the source of Riven's power and Eron's guidance, Kael learns to channel his light without losing himself. He defeats Riven by severing the ruler's connection to the stolen power, and peace is restored to Jinjitsu.
We didn't sleep that night. None of us could. The camp was quiet, but it was the kind of quiet that sits on your chest like a stone. Every shadow looked like Riven. Every sound made me flinch.
Eron found me sitting on a rock, staring at the horizon. He didn't say anything at first. He just sat down next to me and let the silence stretch.
"You know," he finally said, "I once tried to fight Riven with a spoon."
