Jane's Clever Plan
Jane devises a cunning plan to outsmart the ogre, using her wits and the prince's knowledge. She must retrieve a magical item or exploit a weakness the ogre guards jealously.
Jane’s mind raced, a whirlwind of fear and fierce determination. The ogre’s booming laughter still echoed in her ears, a guttural sound that promised a swift and unpleasant end. She huddled closer to the prince, his presence a small beacon of warmth against the chilling dread that threatened to engulf her. He, too, was pale, his eyes wide with a mixture of apprehension and a flicker of something else – a nascent hope that she dared not name.
“He will return,” the prince murmured, his voice a low rumble in the cavernous chamber. “And when he does, he will not be pleased to find me… conversing.”
Jane swallowed hard. “We have to do something. We can’t just wait here to be… his dinner.” Her stomach churned at the thought. She had faced bullies in her village, had even outsmarted the cunning old merchant who tried to swindle her, but this was a different league of danger. This was a creature of myth, a being of immense power and terrifying appetites.
