Chapter 13: The Physical Address
Anonymous Author and the Weaver travel to a storage facility in Naujoji Vilnia to access the hardware running the residual Soviet classification process. They bypass security, find the server room, and begin injecting the counter-process, only to discover that the machine is protected by a recursive self-check algorithm. The Unseen Catalyst intervenes through a radio signal, and they manage to corrupt the dataset, but the system's termination triggers a silent alarm.
The train rattled through the gray suburbs of Vilnius, carrying Anonymous Author and the Weaver toward Naujoji Vilnia. The sky had darkened to a bruised purple, and rain streaked the windows. The Weaver sat with her hands clasped, her gaze fixed on the passing industrial landscape—abandoned factories, rusted cranes, concrete apartment blocks that had once been showpieces of Soviet efficiency.
Anonymous Author pulled out the notebook and reviewed the draft of the counter-process. The code was simple, almost elegant in its brutality:
