The sky above Eldoria had forgotten the color of hope. A perpetual twilight, bruised and heavy, pressed down upon the land. It had been weeks since the sun had truly broken through the oppressive gloom, weeks since the birds had sung their morning melodies. Now, only the mournful cries of unseen carrion birds echoed through the desolate air. The encroaching darkness, once a mere whisper in the wind, had become a tangible presence, a chilling miasma that stole warmth and vitality from everything it touched.

Fields that had once rioted with golden wheat now lay barren, the stalks brittle and black, as if scorched by an infernal fire. The vibrant green of the forests had receded, replaced by a sickly, greyish hue, the leaves curling and falling like withered tears. Even the river, the lifeblood of Eldoria, flowed sluggishly, its waters thick and murky, carrying with it an unsettling stillness that spoke of decay.

Fear, a cold and insidious serpent, coiled itself around the hearts of the kingdom's people. They huddled in their homes, the hearth fires burning low, their faces etched with a gnawing anxiety. Whispers of ancient evils, of forgotten pacts broken and shadows stirring, filled the hushed marketplaces and the darkened taverns. The elders spoke of the legends, of the times when the veil between worlds thinned, and monstrous things clawed their way into existence.
