The headlights swept across the sedan like a slow tide. Marcus kept his hands on the wheel, fingers loose, breathing steady. The patrol car rolled to a stop behind them, its engine idling low.
"Stay quiet," he said.
Derrick didn't answer. The blanket shifted once, then stilled.
