Chapter 7
Reconciling Belief
Father Michael’s skepticism crumbles as he witnesses undeniable spiritual phenomena. He must reconcile his logical mind with the profound, active faith Elias now embodies. Scripture: Hebrews 11:1.
The air in the hidden chamber still hummed with a residual tension, a thick, cloying residue that clung to the stone walls and settled in Father Michael’s throat like dust. He’d seen it, hadn’t he? Not just Elias’s frantic pronouncements, not just the unsettling drafts that snaked through the sacristy, but the tangible manifestation of something ancient and malevolent. The shadowy figure, a silhouette carved from pure dread, had recoiled from Elias, not with a hiss or a roar, but with a sound that was more like a sigh of defeat, a crumbling of something vast and terrible.

Now, staring at the empty pedestal where the artifact had rested, a pedestal now radiating a faint, warm light, he felt like a child who had just glimpsed the monsters under his bed.
Elias stood beside him, his usual pallor replaced by a determined flush. His eyes, once clouded with fear and confusion, now held a steady, unwavering light. He was no longer the troubled parishioner seeking solace; he was something more. He was… armed.
