The aroma of freshly baked bread, usually a source of comfort to Elara, now felt like a cruel taunt. It was the scent of everything she couldn't have, everything she couldn't even ask for. She stood in the bustling marketplace, a whirlwind of unfamiliar sounds and even more unfamiliar faces. Each word spoken around her was a sharp jab, a reminder of her utter isolation. "¡Señora! ¡Busco churros! Dulces, fritos, con azúcar… ¡por favor!" she’d pleaded, her voice cracking with desperation. The woman had stared, blinked, and then, with a sigh that seemed to carry the weight of a thousand confused tourists, had pointed to a stall selling what appeared to be… rocks. Elara had recoiled. Rocks. They were selling rocks. This was a culinary wasteland.
