General Vorlag, suspicious of Kael's motives and prejudiced against Lumina, actively works to sow discord. He seeks to exploit Elara and Kael's union to weaken Umbra and fulfill his own dark agenda.

The air in the council chamber of Umbra crackled with a tension thicker than the perpetual twilight that clung to the kingdom. General Vorlag stood before Queen Lyra, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate with ancient malice. His eyes, sharp and obsidian, flickered towards Kael, who stood impassive at his mother’s side, his gaze fixed on the polished obsidian floor.

“Your Majesty,” Vorlag began, his tone laced with a false deference that barely masked his contempt, “this… *alliance* with Lumina grows more precarious by the day. Our scouts report increased patrols along the border, not with defensive intent, but with a predatory gleam. And our heir…” He paused, letting his gaze drift back to Kael, a subtle accusation hanging in the silence. “…spends an inordinate amount of time in the company of the Lumina heir. Time that could be better spent bolstering our own defenses, or perhaps, as tradition dictates, solidifying our kingdom’s strength through… other means.”

Queen Lyra’s expression remained unreadable, a mask of regal stoicism forged over centuries. Her magic, the very essence of Umbra, pulsed around her, a silent shield against Vorlag’s insinuation. “General, the alliance was forged for the survival of both our kingdoms. Elara’s presence is a necessity, not a dalliance. As for Kael’s strength, he has proven himself time and again. His methods are his own.”
