"You defy us?" His voice, usually a resonant boom that commanded absolute obedience, was now a ragged whisper, laced with a pain so profound it silenced the entire court. "You, Elara, my daughter, heir to Lumina, choose this… this *treachery* over your birthright? Over your people?"

Elara’s chin lifted, her gaze unwavering, though a tremor ran through her.
