Chapter 7
A Shadow from the Past
Billy and Lisa manage to revive a furious Scott, who, consumed by anger, storms off to pursue Jerome Rodriguez. He electrifies his entire body, becoming a blur of speed. Simultaneously, Betty engages Loon the Unbeatable, her wind powers proving ineffective against his defenses. Loon dismisses her like an annoyance. Enraged, Betty unleashes her black magic, but Loon activates a protective shield that nullifies her arcane assault, rendering a significant portion of her power useless. The battle intensifies, with both siblings facing daunting challenges.
The air in the Cave of the Underworld crackled with a frantic energy. Scott Wonders, his normally jovial demeanor replaced by a tempest of fury, was back on his feet. Billy and Lisa, their faces etched with concern, had managed to coax him from the brink of oblivion, but the lingering shock of Jerome Rodriguez’s callous disregard for his fallen comrades had ignited a wildfire in his soul. "He took them," Scott growled, his voice a low rumble of thunder. "He took them, and he's getting away with it."
Before Billy or Lisa could voice a plea for caution, Scott erupted. His entire body pulsed with an incandescent blue light, the very air around him vibrating with raw electrical power. He was no longer Scott Wonders, the amiable teammate; he was a living storm, a blur of pure kinetic fury. With a guttural roar, he shot off into the depths of the cave, a streak of lightning chasing the retreating shadow of Jerome Rodriguez.
"Scott, wait!" Billy yelled, but the words were lost in the roaring surge of Scott's departure. He exchanged a worried glance with Lisa. "We can't let him go alone."
