Chapter 40
The source of the trouble
Meanwhile, Billy began fighting Tidalthree while Lisa fights Darkdrake and Casey Linct and Karak Krohickey takes care of the dying Ryder Linct. Tidalthree called for reinforcements, and these reinforcements arrived. Only four Midnight Eves members and one Council of the Crystals member named Blackjack, who has Jelly powers. She created a large jelly monster that captured Billy. As for Lisa, she solely fought off the four Midnight Eves members and beat them all using her gravity, super strength and super speed and her toxicology powers. Casey Linct is depressed that his brother Ryder Linct lost so easily against Dennis Longshun. Luckily, Ryder is still alive but he still needed to go to the hospital quickly. Meanwhile, Billy tried to escape from the Jelly monster but to no avail. Then, Tidalthree was ordered by Dennis Longshun to end the invasion and retreat since they've drawn attention not even SuperSeven, the Ultimate hero, can ignore. Tidalthree transported the four Midnight Eves members, Blackjack, Darkdrake, himself and Billy away, rendering him abducted. The invasion has ended, this time for real.
The city, a canvas of recent devastation, slowly exhaled. Smoke, like a weary sigh, curled from the wounds of buildings, and the air, still thick with the metallic tang of battle, carried the hushed murmurs of survivors. Amidst this quiet aftermath, the echoes of conflict replayed. Billy, his muscles screaming in protest, was locked in a brutal dance with Tidalthree. Water, summoned and shaped by Billy’s will, clashed with the sorcerer’s bewildering spatial distortions. Each surge of icy power met a ripple in reality, a disorienting twist that threatened to unravel Billy’s very being.
Not far off, Lisa was a blur of controlled fury against Darkdrake. Her super speed was a whisper in the wind, her super strength a hammer blow. Gravity bent to her command, anchoring her strikes and amplifying their impact. She moved with a dancer’s grace and a warrior’s precision, each calculated movement chipping away at Darkdrake’s formidable defenses. The air around her crackled with contained energy, a testament to her relentless assault. Nearby, the brothers Linct, Casey and Karak Krohickey, knelt beside their fallen leader, Ryder. The once vibrant aura of Ryder was now a faint ember, a stark reminder of Dennis Longshun’s devastating power. Casey’s usual boisterous energy had evaporated, replaced by a hollow ache in his chest. His brother, Ryder, had been defeated, a wound far deeper than any physical scar.
Tidalthree, his brow slick with exertion, felt a tremor in the air, a signal for more. A series of sharp pops, like breaking glass, announced the arrival of four figures, their cloaks the deep, ominous hue of the Midnight Eves. Then, a new presence, unsettlingly serene, stepped forward. Blackjack, a member of the Council of the Crystals, surveyed the scene with an unnerving calm. With a casual flick of her wrist, the very air seemed to thicken, coalescing into a colossal, pulsating mass of jelly. The monstrous creation writhed, its amorphous body shimmering with an unholy luminescence, then lunged. Sticky, viscous tendrils shot out, wrapping around Billy in a suffocating, inescapable embrace. He struggled, his water and ice powers lashing out, only to be absorbed by the resilient, quivering prison.
