Chapter 32

Trap

Meanwhile, Ryder Linct swiftly took out Darkdrake using his blazing and overpowered fire powers, and Karak Krohickey bound him using his Red Earth powers. Meanwhile,as the heroes suffered against Drake 5's rampage, Lincoln swooped in and, along with his silver katana, cut Drake 5 into pieces the same way he cut Drake 2 as well. Then, the heroes got rejoiced that the invasion has finally subsided. Meanwhile, Darkdrake (trapped by Karak Krohickey's red earth) laughed like a crazy person. At the same time,a portal appeared and swallowed all the heroes around, leaving only Casey Linct, Karak Krohickey,Lisa Parkers, Billy Rodrick, Cassie Shrout, Marianne Gleester, Betty Rodrick and Ryder Linct. The other heroes got transported to the Sahara Desert. After this event, Darkdrake confessed that he and the Council of the Crystals are really after the green calcium carbonate stone, which is in Ryder Linct's possession right now. Ryder Linct, unfazed by what Darkdrake said, got a feeling that he is not the only one here, there is someone else hiding beneath the houses.

Ryder Linct’s blazing fire powers erupted, engulfing Darkdrake in a conflagration so intense it seemed to melt the very air. Karak Krohickey, with a guttural cry, slammed his hands onto the ground, and tendrils of crimson earth snaked out, binding the villain with unyielding strength. Elsewhere, as the heroes struggled against the building-devouring rampage of Drake 5, a silver flash split the chaos. Lincoln Saint, his katana a blur, descended, bisecting the monstrous creature with the same swift, decisive strokes that had felled Drake 2. A collective sigh of relief rippled through the assembled heroes; the invasion, it seemed, had finally subsided.

But Darkdrake, still writhing within Karak’s earthen bonds, let out a cackle, a sound like dry leaves skittering across parched earth. “You think this is over?” he shrieked, his laughter echoing with a disturbing mania. As if summoned by his madness, a swirling vortex of emerald energy ripped through the sky above. It pulsed, a hungry maw opening, and with an irresistible pull, it began to swallow the heroes. One by one, they were drawn into the shimmering portal, their shouts of surprise and alarm swallowed by the growing roar of the vortex. Left behind in the sudden, eerie quiet were Casey Linct, Karak Krohickey, Lisa Parkers, Billy Rodrick, Cassie Shrout, Marianne Gleester, Betty Rodrick, and Ryder Linct. The others, the vast majority of the heroes who had fought so valiantly, had been transported to the desolate expanse of the Sahara Desert.

Darkdrake, his laughter subsiding into a chillingly calm whisper, confessed, “The green calcium carbonate stone… it is what we truly seek. And it is currently in your possession, Ryder Linct.” Ryder, his gaze sharp and unwavering, felt a prickle of unease crawl up his spine. Darkdrake’s words, while revealing a new objective, did little to quell a deeper suspicion. He scanned the deserted street, the silence now heavy with unspoken threat. He was certain of it. Darkdrake was not the only one here. Someone, or something, was hiding, lurking beneath the shattered facades of the houses, watching them.
