Chapter 28
United they shall fall
Gero (the little dragon) told Betty to inhale and exhale in order to turn back to normal automatically. She did that and her devil power instantly vanished. Then, she, Kastor and Lori meet up with Bella Williams, Brittany Brooke and Marianne Gleester. They discussed about the Drake creatures and later went on to find more danger. Betty and Marianne diverged from the group in order to cover more ground, and talk about their friendship some more. Meanwhile, Drake 5 continued eating buildings and not paying attention to anything else. Mark Anders tried creating a large sand trap using his Sand powers. Drake 5 got trapped in as planned. Then, Bella arrived and beheaded the creature using her Thorn powers. Lori and Kastor joined in and greeted Cooper Tasters and Mark. Then, Drake 5's head grew back and it was annoyed this time. Meanwhile, the Red Light members fought off against Drake 6. Karak Krohickey used his Red Earth powers to blind Drake 6,then Ryder used his blazing fire powers to burn Drake 6 into nothingness.
Gero, the little dragon, chirped urgently at Betty, a series of high-pitched sounds that somehow conveyed a clear instruction. "Inhale… exhale…" he squeaked, his tiny body vibrating with the effort. Betty, still reeling from the raw, demonic power that had surged through her, followed his bizarre command. As she drew a deep breath and let it out, the oppressive aura around her receded like a tide. The devilish horns and the solitary wing retracted, leaving her feeling strangely normal, albeit shaken. Her black magic subsided, and the oppressive weight of the Devil’s Spear felt less like a siren's call and more like a burden she could finally set down.
She met Kastor and Lori’s bewildered gazes, offering a weak, apologetic smile. The three Yellow Disk members then found themselves merging with Captain Bella Williams, Brittany Brooke, and Marianne Gleester. A hushed discussion followed, the heroes piecing together the fragmented details of the Drake creatures’ assault. The sheer chaotic nature of the attacks, the seemingly random targets, and the unnerving resilience of the monsters left them with more questions than answers. As they debated their next move, Betty and Marianne, sensing the need to cover more ground, decided to split off. Their shared experience, however brief, had forged a tentative bond, and they used the opportunity to delve deeper into their burgeoning friendship, their voices a low murmur as they moved away from the others.
Meanwhile, Drake 5, the building-devouring monstrosity, continued its relentless feast, oblivious to the world around it. Mark Anders, with a determined glint in his eye, began to channel his Sand powers. A vast, swirling vortex of grit and dust erupted from the ground, coalescing into a colossal sand trap. Drake 5, its attention solely fixed on its next meal, lumbered into the unexpected pit. Just as it began to struggle, Captain Bella Williams arrived, her Thorn powers manifesting as razor-sharp vines that lashed out, severing the creature's head with a sickening crunch. Lori and Kastor joined them, offering greetings to Cooper Tasters and Mark. Their moment of triumph, however, was short-lived. With a grotesque gurgle, Drake 5’s head regrew, its annoyance palpable, its hunger seemingly undiminished.
