Chapter 24
Desperation
Billy understands that they are facing Darkdrake(a member of the Council of the Crystals) and got his Sword of Slayers ready. Before he did anything, Drake 1(one of the Drake creatures) appeared before him. Darkdrake sat down and relaxed while the large scale invasion continued. Meanwhile, Lincoln Saint, Battlax Saint and Miranda Saint rescued the civilians from the Council of the Crystals members and took them down. Drake 2(which resembles a buffalo) came and ambushed Lincoln Saint. Lincoln resorted to using his Silver powers to create spikes to hit Drake 2 with. Drake 2 then absorbed the spikes and changed its colour to Silver so that metal doesn't hurt it anymore. Meanwhile, Captain Bella Williams, Brittany Brooke and Marianne Gleester also rescued the civilians (men and women alike) and took out the Council of the Crystals members swiftly.
Billy’s jaw tightened, the words ‘Council of the Crystals’ echoing in the cavern of his mind like a death knell. This wasn’t some petty street brawl; this was the deliberate machination of a force he knew, a force that brought a primal fear coiling in his gut. The Sword of Slayers, a stark obsidian shard against the encroaching chaos, felt heavy and familiar in his grip. The air vibrated with a prelude to inevitable conflict, a taut silence before the storm. But before Billy could even take a breath, a guttural roar, raw and ragged, ripped through the cacophony. Drake 1, a hulking silhouette of jagged scales and eyes like burning embers, materialized between Billy and the architect of this devastation. High above, Darkdrake, seemingly unperturbed by the unfolding carnage, found a surprisingly comfortable perch on a slab of scorched earth. He settled back, a picture of serene indifference as his monstrous legion carved a path of destruction.
Miles to the east, a silver tide flowed through the panicked streets. Lincoln Saint, flanked by his younger siblings, Battlax and Miranda, moved with the precision of a well-oiled machine. Each step, each parry, was a testament to their relentless training, a ballet of protection and swift neutralization. They wove through the terrified populace, a living shield, herding them towards safety while their cloaked assailants crumpled before their combined might. Suddenly, a thunderous snort and the earth-shaking thud of hooves announced a new, terrifying adversary. Drake 2, a creature of immense, brutish bulk, its form uncannily resembling a monstrous buffalo, lunged from the shadows, its charge a direct ambush on Lincoln. Without a flicker of hesitation, Lincoln unleashed his silver powers. A torrent of razor-sharp spikes erupted from his hands, a metallic storm hurtling towards the charging beast. The projectiles found their mark, but Drake 2 met the onslaught head-on. With a sickening crunch, the creature absorbed the metallic barrage, its hide rippling and shifting, transforming into a dull, gleaming silver. A chilling adaptation, rendering Lincoln’s carefully honed metallic assault utterly impotent.
Meanwhile, in the northern sector, Captain Bella Williams, Brittany Brooke, and Marianne Gleester were a whirlwind of focused energy. They moved with an almost ethereal grace, a stark contrast to the raw, unbridled aggression of the drakes. Their presence, a beacon of calm amidst the pandemonium, reassured the fleeing civilians. Men and women alike were swiftly and gently guided away from the unfolding conflict, their rescuers a testament to their unwavering resolve. The cloaked members of the Council of the Crystals, so confident in their calculated cruelty, found themselves swiftly outmaneuvered and neutralized, their malevolent intentions no match for the swift, decisive actions of this formidable trio. They were a perfectly synchronized unit, a stark counterpoint to the brute force of the drakes and the chilling apathy of their mastermind.
