Chapter 14
Waterloo's Resilience
Billy finds himself on the defensive, Loon creating exploding diamond crystals to catch him off guard. While Billy and Loon avoid the direct blasts, the others are caught in the periphery. Billy then resorts to his Sword of Absorption, intending to drain Loon's powers. The strategy works, the sword gathering significant energy. With a powerful lunge, Billy unleashes the absorbed power, finally defeating Loon. A sense of relief washes over Billy, but it's short-lived as he realizes Loon had stabbed him before he could fully deploy the sword.
The air in the Cave of the Underworld crackled with a dangerous energy, a stark contrast to the hushed reverence Billy Rodrick, now known as Waterloo, had felt moments before. Loon Unger, a whirlwind of amplified diamond power, was relentless. Exploding crystalline shards rained down, each one a miniature, devastating sunburst. Billy, his water manipulation a shimmering shield, deflected the worst of it, his movements fluid and practiced. Beside him, Lisa, Blaze Z, weaved through the chaos, her super speed a blur, her elastic limbs stretching to avoid the jagged projectiles. Betty, Super Lavender, conjured a swirling vortex of mist, obscuring their vision and muffling the explosive impacts, while her black magic pulsed with a dark, protective aura.
They had fought as a unit, a fragile alliance forged in the crucible of shared danger. Jerome, his greed momentarily forgotten in the face of Loon’s sheer destructive force, had been subdued, his treasure hunt abandoned. Now, it was just them against this diamond-skinned titan.
“He’s too fast, Billy!” Lisa’s voice, usually bright, was strained. She’d managed to dodge a direct hit, but a glancing blow had sent her skidding across the damp cavern floor.
