Chapter 23
The true intruder
When Super Lavender got to the deserted parts of Oakland county, she saw a couple of outrageous men with guns. She defeated them all using her Black magic powers. Then, she detected Brandon Sanders, Kastor Campbell and Lori Pascallian here, joining her in this mission. Lori located Barbara, who is with two people, one is Colt Brussels and the other one is the kidnapper. The others, excluding Betty, followed her lead. They headed to Barbara and Colt, and the true kidnapper charged straight at them. Betty cast him aside with ease and released Barbara and Colt. She told Colt to cut the act because she found out that he is the one responsible for this, for everything, the entire mission was a farce. Colt got ready to fight Betty, but she let the others handle him. Lori trapped him in a prison made of wood while Kastor knocked him out. Betty got Barbara out of trouble. The police arrived and they arrested Colt Brussels, their first mission having been completed.
The wind, a restless spirit, tugged at Betty’s dark hair as she ventured into the forgotten fringes of Oakland County. The air here hung heavy and stagnant, thick with the scent of decay and the unspoken promise of violence. Around a cluster of skeletal trees, a tableau of menace unfolded: a half-dozen men, their faces etched with a brutal indifference, brandished firearms that glinted like predatory teeth. A cold spark ignited in Betty’s chest, a familiar ember of power. With a subtle flick of her wrist, wisps of midnight energy unfurled, coiling around the thugs. Their surprised yelps dissolved into choked whimpers as they were hoisted, disoriented, into the air, their forms swallowed by the encroaching dusk. The sudden, profound silence that followed was a palpable thing.
Then, a subtle shift in the atmospheric hum, a wave of familiar energy washing over her. Brandon, Kastor, and Lori. They had found her. Lori, her gaze sharp and unerring, gestured towards a hulking, derelict warehouse. "Barbara," she breathed, her voice tight with urgency. "She's inside. With two others. Colt Brussels… and the true kidnapper."
A tremor of mingled relief and righteous fury coursed through Betty. She met her companions' eyes, a silent acknowledgment passing between them, then fixed her gaze on the looming structure. They moved with the practiced grace of shadows, a single, cohesive unit closing in. As they approached the yawning maw of the entrance, a figure erupted from the darkness, a whirlwind of aggression aimed directly at them. Colt Brussels, his mask of innocence brutally ripped away, his eyes now hard and calculating.
