Chapter 21
Courage
Barbara made dinner for Betty and her guests. Betty later discovered from her mother Barbara Rodrick that her brother Billy visited her before along with Lisa. She got angry, while eating dinner. Kastor suggested that they move out and continue their mission now. Lori got curious and asked Barbara to describe Billy Rodrick for her. She described him perfectly, making Lori think of a handsome man who is strong and kind. Barbara also told Betty that while Billy was here,he stopped a thief and got acknowledged by the Ultimate hero himself. The news made Betty more angrier than she was before, but she tried her best to hide it.
The aroma of Barbara’s cooking filled the cozy home, a comforting balm after the day’s excitement and the lingering unease. Betty, Lori, and Kastor sat around the familiar dining table, the clinking of silverware a gentle rhythm against the backdrop of their conversation. Barbara, her face alight with motherly pride, served generous portions of her signature roast chicken and vegetables.
“You must be so proud of Betty, dear,” Lori said, her voice soft and warm as she addressed Barbara. “She was truly magnificent out there.”
Barbara beamed, her eyes crinkling at the corners. “She always has been, even when she was little. Always so determined.” She then turned her attention to Kastor. “And you, Kastor, you’ve been such a good influence on them. I appreciate you looking out for my girl.”
