Chapter 5
The Unveiling of Absence
A moment of shared intimacy, or perhaps a poignant silence, forces both Elara and Liam to confront the stark reality. Elara, with a quiet strength, acknowledges the truth of her changed heart, leaving Liam to navigate the landscape of a love he believed was enduring.

Elara’s breath caught, a small, tight knot forming in her chest. The air in the café, usually buzzing with the murmur of conversations and the clatter of porcelain, seemed to thicken, pressing in on her. She felt the weight of his gaze, the unspoken expectation that bloomed in the space between them, pushing against the fragile walls she had so painstakingly erected around her true feelings. She looked at his hand, still resting near her cup, then slowly, deliberately, she withdrew her own from the table, placing it in her lap.
