Chapter 15
Redemption's Bloom
Shella fiercely defends Mika, her ruthless nature now fueled by love. In protecting Mika, she begins to shed her old skin, embracing a path toward redemption.
The air in the warehouse hung thick and stagnant, smelling of stale oil and desperation. It was a stark contrast to the sweet, clean scent of roses and jasmine that usually clung to Shella Mae, a scent now inexplicably intertwined with the delicate fragrance of Mika’s presence. Shella stood at the center of the cavernous space, her shadow stretching long and distorted across the concrete floor. Around her, men shifted nervously, their eyes darting between their queen and the hulking figure of Dante, who stood with his arms crossed, a sneer plastered on his face.
“You’re letting sentiment cloud your judgment, Shella,” Dante spat, his voice a low growl that echoed in the silence. “A florist. A *mute* florist. This is what you’ve become?”
Shella’s gaze, usually as sharp and unforgiving as broken glass, was now fixed on Dante with an intensity that promised swift retribution. Her knuckles were white where she gripped the edge of a sturdy metal table, her nails digging into the cool surface. Mika, her Mika, was the reason for this confrontation, the unspoken accusation hanging heavy in the air. Dante and his loyalists saw Mika as a weakness, a foolish indulgence that threatened to unravel the carefully constructed empire Shella had built. But they didn’t understand. They couldn’t. Mika wasn’t a weakness; she was the very reason Shella was starting to see the world, and herself, in a different light.
