Anya, now Queen Anya, found herself adrift in a sea of silk and whispered speculations. The grand chambers of the royal palace, once a terrifying gilded cage, now felt… different. Not quite comfortable, not yet home, but certainly less like a prison. She’d spent weeks wrestling with the seismic shift that had occurred on her wedding day. The logical part of her brain, the part that had been meticulously trained for years to understand political alliances and strategic marriages, was still trying to process the sheer illogicality of it all.

Yet, another part, a part she hadn't known existed, was stirring. It was a part that felt a peculiar pull towards the woman who now shared her chambers, her title, and, much to Anya’s ongoing bewilderment, her bed. Queen Elara. The name still felt foreign on her tongue, a label that didn’t quite fit the woman who’d turned her world upside down with a single, perfectly tailored suit and a smile that could melt glaciers.

One crisp autumn afternoon, as Anya was poring over a particularly dry tome on trade agreements, a familiar scent wafted into her chambers. It was the scent of woodsmoke and something akin to sunshine after a rainstorm – Elara’s signature fragrance. Anya looked up, a faint blush rising on her cheeks as Elara entered, looking less like a formidable ruler and more like a mischievous sprite. She carried a small, intricately carved wooden bird.
