Azrael, Lucien's stoic enforcer, notes the subtle changes in his master. He watches Evan with a detached intensity, questioning the demon lord's unusual interest.
The obsidian throne was a throne of silence, of absolute dominion. From its cold, unyielding surface, I surveyed my kingdom, a realm forged in fire and fear. My reign was a monument to control, a testament to the eradication of weakness, and emotion was the most potent of all weaknesses. Yet, lately, a tremor had begun to disturb the bedrock of my existence. It began with him, the human. Evan Aris. A name whispered on the infernal winds, a face etched into the shadows of my private chambers.
Azrael stood before me, a sentinel of stoic loyalty, his gaze as sharp and unblinking as the obsidian that formed my throne. He was an extension of my will, a blade honed by centuries of service. He saw everything, processed it with a chilling efficiency that mirrored my own. And lately, he had been seeing something he couldn’t quite reconcile.
"My Lord," his voice, a low rumble that stirred the dust motes dancing in the slivers of infernal light, broke the customary silence. "The prisoner… Aris. He has not attempted escape."
