The chill that permeated my chambers was not of the infernal kind, but a deeper, more unsettling cold that had taken root within my very core. It had begun subtly, a phantom ache behind my eyes, a flicker at the edge of my vision. Now, it was a persistent hum beneath the surface of my consciousness, a dissonant chord in the symphony of my existence. Evan Aris. The name itself was a whisper that stirred the dust of forgotten chambers within me.

He sat across from me, bathed in the sickly glow of the infernal lamps, his gaze steady, unblinking. There was no fear in those eyes, only a profound, unnerving calm. It was this lack of abject terror that had first snagged my attention, a single thread of defiance in a tapestry woven from submission. Now, it was something more. He was a puzzle, a carefully crafted enigma, and I, the master of Hell, was finding myself increasingly consumed by the need to solve him.

“You claim to remember nothing,” I stated, my voice a low rumble that echoed the constant, distant groans of the damned. “Yet, your presence here is no accident, is it, Evan Aris?”
