The air in this place, if you could call it air, had a weight to it, a suffocating stillness that pressed in on my chest. It was the kind of silence that screamed, that vibrated with the absence of everything familiar. I’d been wandering through this spectral landscape, a canvas of muted grays and bruised purples, for what felt like an eternity, though time here was as elusive as a wisp of smoke. The symbols etched into the obsidian-like ground, the ones I’d first encountered in the echoing emptiness, now seemed to pulse with a faint, internal light, a silent language I was still too lost to decipher. The Weaver’s riddles, once cryptic whispers, now felt like taunts, each word a stone dropped into the abyss of my amnesia.
I’d stumbled upon her, or perhaps she’d allowed herself to be found, amidst a cluster of crystalline structures that hummed with a low, resonant frequency. She was less a person and more a tapestry of shifting light and shadow, her form coalescing and dissolving with each breath. Her voice, when she spoke, was like the rustling of ancient parchment, dry and brittle, yet carrying an unsettling authority.
"You seek the thread, Elias Thorne," she’d rasped, her luminous eyes, if they were eyes, fixed on me. "But the loom is vast, and your hands are yet unpracticed."
