Chapter 10
The Illusion of Choice

The ground beneath my feet shifted from smooth, cool stone to gritty, yielding sand without any discernible transition. Strange, glowing symbols pulsed on the unseen walls, their patterns familiar in a way that made my teeth ache, yet utterly alien. The silence wasn’t merely an absence of sound; it was a presence, heavy and watchful, as if the very air held its breath.
