The air in the Elysian Archives hummed with a low, almost imperceptible thrum, a sound that Elara found far more unsettling than the boisterous, chaotic symphony of her village. Here, beneath the perpetually golden sky and within the hushed reverence of polished Jasper, knowledge was not a wild, untamed thing to be discovered, but a carefully curated garden, meticulously pruned and arranged. She felt the subtle glances, the almost imperceptible tightening of shoulders as she passed, the silent judgment that whispered of her unsuitability.
