The sterile gleam of the interrogation room did little to cool the fire in my gut. Courtney sat across from me, her regal composure a thin veneer over something coiled and venomous. The air crackled with unspoken accusations, the silence heavier than any gavel. Her perfectly manicured hands rested on the polished table, a picture of maternal concern that I now saw as a masterclass in deception. The Queen. My Queen. The architect of the chaos that had nearly consumed Jake.

"You have a lot of nerve, Opal," she began, her voice a silken whip. "Accusing me. Me."

"I'm not accusing, Your Majesty," I said, my voice low and steady, a deliberate counterpoint to the storm brewing inside me. "I'm stating facts. Facts that point to you. The security breaches, the coded messages, the staged 'accidents' – they all lead back to you."
