Chapter 8 – The Surprise Attack
After the gala, Ethan and Nelly retreat to his apartment to plan their six-month project. As they outline an organic skincare business, a news alert reveals Soo-Jin has gone public with false accusations of blackmail. They decide to hold a press conference and pivot to starting production in Nelly's grandmother's village, facing a new public battle.
The gala was still humming when Ethan and Nelly slipped out a side door into the cool night air. The chandeliers and string quartet faded behind them as they walked down a quiet alley to the street. Ethan hailed a taxi and helped Nelly inside, her white dress pooling on the seat.
“Where to?” the driver asked.
Ethan gave his apartment address. The car pulled away from the glittering hotel, leaving the cameras and whispers behind.
