Ethan waits for Nelly at the coffee shop, but instead she sends a note to meet at the Han River Sky Tower rooftop garden. There, she reveals that Soo-Jin called her with the ultimatum, but instead of running, she decides to fight back. She proposes they attend his father's charity gala together as a real couple to confront the board and the Park family. They leave for the gala, united.
The elevator doors glided open, and Ethan stepped into the lobby of the Allen building. The marble floor stretched toward the revolving doors, where the evening sun cast long shadows. He checked his phone again. Still no reply from Nelly. The text he had sent sat unread, the double check marks dark grey instead of blue.
He shoved the phone into his pocket and walked outside. The air was warm, carrying the scent of exhaust and street food from a nearby vendor. He hailed a taxi, giving the driver the address of the coffee shop. He would go early, wait for her. If she came, they would talk. If she didn’t… he didn’t let himself finish that thought.
The taxi weaved through the evening traffic. Ethan watched the city lights blur past. His father’s words echoed in his mind: "You have until tomorrow noon." He had bought a day, nothing more. But a day could be enough to change everything—or lose it all.
