Ethan meets Nelly at the coffee shop as agreed. She is guarded but willing to listen. He explains his father's ultimatum. They begin to tentatively reconnect when Soo-Jin Park arrives, delivering Nelly's termination letter and demanding Ethan accompany her to see his father. Nelly leaves in tears, and Ethan must follow Soo-Jin, escalating the conflict.
The coffee shop on Maple Street smelled of fresh espresso and cinnamon. Ethan arrived ten minutes early, choosing a table near the window where he could see the entrance. He ordered a black coffee he didn't touch, his hands wrapped around the warm cup as he watched the door.
Every time it opened, his heart jumped. But it was never Nelly.
He had worn a simple gray sweater, wanting to look approachable, not like the CEO who commanded boardrooms. His cane rested against the chair beside him—a prop he no longer needed but couldn't quite discard. Not yet.
