Chapter 10 — The Road Ahead
Ethan and Nelly leave the press conference to confront Kang-Dae, who admits he collaborated with Soo-Jin to create a false recording. He offers them money to leave Korea, but they refuse. They decide to retreat to Nelly's grandmother's village to continue their plan. A text from Soo-Jin warns of an arrest warrant by 6 p.m., forcing them to flee the city. Their relationship deepens through trust and a kiss amid the crisis.
Through the windshield, the crowd of reporters looked like a wall of cameras and microphones. A few had already spotted the taxi and were turning, bodies shifting toward the vehicle.
Ethan squeezed Nelly’s hand. “Are you ready?”
She met his eyes. “I’m ready because I’m with you.”
