Maggie McArthur is a 35 year old, African American woman. She is clumsy, has a potty mouth, and makes jokes about absolutely everything. And yet somehow, she is the greatest detective the world. Her newest adventure places her on the other side of the law. The female crime lord known as Dymez, has escaped prison. Dymez has been recently framing Maggie for multiple crimes. Maggie must convince the Dallas PD that she is being set up. But it's ok. Because evildoers hide their face, when Maggie's on the case!
Chapters
- 1Framed and FumingDetective Maggie McArthur, a whirlwind of klutzy charm and profanity, stares at the evidence board, a framed photo of herself committing a crime glaring back. "Are you shitting me?" she mutters, knocking over a coffee cup. Dymez, her arch-nemesis, has orchestrated this masterpiece of deception. The Dallas PD, led by the perpetually unimpressed Detective Miller, views Maggie with suspicion. Her reputation as the city's greatest, albeit most unconventional, detective is crumbling faster than a stale donut. Maggie knows she's being set up, but convincing Miller and the brass requires more than just her usual brand of chaotic brilliance. The clock is ticking, and her freedom, let alone her career, hangs in the balance. She needs to find a way to prove her innocence before Dymez's plan fully unfolds.
- 2On the Run, Off the RailsSirens wail in the distance as Maggie, disguised in a ridiculously oversized hat and sunglasses, ducks into a bustling diner. The Dallas PD has a warrant for her arrest, and Detective Miller is leading the hunt. "Just my luck," she grumbles, spilling ketchup on her disguise. Dymez is on the loose, leaving a trail of destruction, and Maggie is the prime suspect. She needs concrete proof of the framing, but every move is scrutinized. She dodges a patrol car, narrowly avoids a runaway hot dog cart, and uses her quick wit to throw off a pursuing officer, all while trying to piece together Dymez's motives. The stakes are higher than ever; not only must she clear her name, but she also has to stop Dymez before more innocent lives are endangered.
- 3Dymez's Deadly TrailMaggie, holed up in a grimy motel room, pores over the scant clues Dymez has left behind. A cryptic note, a smudged fingerprint, a half-burnt photograph – fragments of a puzzle that only Dymez could have arranged. "This broad thinks she's so clever," Maggie mutters, smudging ink on her own face in frustration. She realizes Dymez isn't just playing games; there's a pattern, a target. The clue points to the upcoming Dallas Grand Gala, a high-profile event, and Maggie suspects Dymez plans to use it as cover for her most audacious crime yet. With the police still hunting her, Maggie must race against time, deciphering the remaining hints and navigating the city's underbelly to reach the gala and prevent Dymez's ultimate plan from succeeding.
- 4Dallas DodgeballThe Dallas Grand Gala is in full swing, a glittering facade for Dymez's impending chaos. Maggie, having snuck in using a laundry cart and a borrowed tuxedo, spots Dymez making her move. A frantic chase erupts through the ballroom, spilling out into the opulent streets of Dallas. Maggie, hampered by her own clumsiness and a rogue champagne bottle, pursues Dymez through crowded markets and narrow alleyways. Police cruisers, alerted by the commotion, join the pursuit, further complicating Maggie's efforts. She uses her surroundings to her advantage – a conveniently placed banana peel, a startled flock of pigeons – to outmaneuver both Dymez and the authorities, proving that sometimes, the most effective way to catch a criminal is to be as unpredictable as they are.
- 5The Goofball's GambitCornered in an abandoned warehouse, the air thick with dust and tension, Maggie faces Dymez. The crime lord smirks, confident in her trap. "You can't win, McArthur. You're too predictable." But Maggie has a trick up her sleeve. She feigns a spectacular, elaborate pratfall, sending crates tumbling and creating a diversion. While Dymez is momentarily stunned, Maggie uses her environment – a strategically swung rope, a well-aimed bucket of paint – to disarm and incapacitate her nemesis. It's a chaotic, improvised battle where Maggie's perceived weaknesses become her greatest strengths, turning Dymez's own arrogance against her in a final, decisive confrontation.
- 6Case Closed, Comedy OnThe dust has settled. Dymez, securely handcuffed and glaring daggers, is being led away by a humbled Detective Miller, who now offers Maggie a grudging nod of respect. Maggie, bruised but victorious, leans against a police car, a triumphant, albeit slightly disheveled, grin on her face. "Well, that was a hoot," she declares to the assembled press, narrowly avoiding tripping over a microphone cord. Her name is cleared, her reputation restored, and although she's got a mountain of paperwork and a few new bruises, Maggie McArthur is ready for her next absurd adventure. She shares a knowing wink with Miller, a silent acknowledgment of their shared, albeit unconventional, victory, before winking at the cameras and letting out a hearty, relieved laugh.

Ratna, a 29-year-old woman, was forced to return to Solo after seven years of navigating the hustle and bustle of Jakarta. Her grandmother, Mbah Turah, had fallen ill and kept murmuring Ratna’s name in her delirium. In the quiet, old joglo house, Ratna found a black clay pot inlaid with shards of old glass in the kitchen. Her grandmother whispered, “That’s for boiling water, Le.” But every night, Ratna heard a hissing sound coming from the pot—not the sound of steam, but conversation. Gradually, Ratna realized the pot was no ordinary cooking pot. It was a repository of memories. Every time it was filled with water and heated, the pot “boiled” the memories of those who had once used it. Ratna began to hear the voice of her mother, who had died when she was a child; the voice of her grandfather, who had mysteriously disappeared; and even whispers from the future warning her not to repeat the same mistakes. In her search, Ratna must distinguish which whispers are true, which are merely echoes of her family’s trauma, and ultimately—why her grandmother had deliberately hidden the vessel for decades.
