The air in the K'tharr market pulsed with a thousand alien scents, a cacophony of chattering tongues and the distant hum of unfamiliar machinery. Elara, cloaked and cautious, wove through the throng, her eyes scanning every face, every stall. She had spent days here, piecing together whispers and rumors, following the faintest of breadcrumbs left by the beings who had dared to steal Eldoria’s heart. The K'tharr, with their chitinous exoskeletons and multifaceted eyes, were a race of traders and information brokers, their neutrality a shield that allowed them to profit from any conflict. It was within this swirling vortex of commerce that she hoped to find answers, a more concrete lead than the vague tales of “sky-thieves” and “void-walkers” she’d initially encountered.

Her contact, a K'tharr named Zylos, was supposed to meet her near the Great Lumina Spire, a colossal crystal that pulsed with an inner light, casting shifting rainbows across the bustling square. Elara arrived early, her hand resting habitually on the hilt of her short sword, the familiar weight a small comfort in this bewildering land. She observed the flow of beings: the towering, segmented Grolok, their stony hides impervious to casual touch; the diminutive, skittering Fae’lin, their rapid movements a blur of iridescent wings; and the stoic, four-armed Xylo, their silent efficiency a stark contrast to the surrounding chaos.

Finally, a figure detached itself from the shadows of a nearby stall, its form cloaked and hooded, obscuring its features. Zylos. Elara approached, her steps measured.
