The air in the K'tharr docking bay hummed with an energy that vibrated not just through Elara's boots, but deep into her bones. It was a stark contrast to the chaotic, vibrant, and often messy biological life she was accustomed to. Here, everything was sleek, geometric, and bathed in a cool, perpetual luminescence that seemed to emanate from the very walls. Metallic structures, impossibly smooth and devoid of any visible seams, rose like polished obsidian monoliths, pierced by pathways of softly glowing light.
She had been escorted, or perhaps more accurately, herded, into this cavernous space by a pair of K'tharr guards. They were imposing figures, their exoskeletons a deep, iridescent blue that shifted with the light, and their movements precise, almost mechanical. Their heads were elongated, with multifaceted eyes that regarded her with an unnerving impassivity. They carried no visible weapons, yet the sheer presence of their disciplined, unwavering focus spoke volumes.
Elara, clad in her worn leather armor and with her trusty, if slightly battered, sword at her hip, felt like a creature of mud and wood thrust into a realm of pure, refined crystal. She’d spent days, no, weeks, tracking the faint energy signatures, the subtle distortions in reality that had led her from the Crimson Expanse through a shimmering, unstable gateway. This world, whatever its name, was unlike anything the scrolls in Eldoria had ever hinted at.
