The shimmering vortex spat Elara out onto familiar, soft earth. One moment, the disorienting kaleidoscope of alien energies; the next, the comforting scent of pine and damp soil filled her lungs. With each sound, a knot of anxiety that had tightened in her stomach since she’d left began to loosen.
