The air in the cavern thrummed with an ancient, malevolent energy. It coiled and writhed, a palpable presence that prickled Elara’s skin and sent a shiver down her spine, a stark contrast to the scorching heat that still clung to her from the trial. She gripped the hilt of her sword, its familiar weight a small comfort against the growing dread. The chamber, hewn from obsidian-like rock that seemed to absorb all light, was vast and oppressive. In its center, on a raised dais, lay the Golden Sword, its divine luminescence dimmed, as if struggling against the encroaching darkness. And between her and her prize stood the guardian.

It was not a creature of flesh and blood, not in any way Elara understood. It was a manifestation of primal fury, a swirling vortex of shadow and raw power. Tendrils of darkness lashed out, coalescing into clawed limbs, a gaping maw filled with incandescent, predatory eyes, and a form that defied easy description, shifting and reforming with terrifying fluidity. This was the Beast of Xylos, the final obstacle between her and the salvation of Eldoria.

“So,” Elara’s voice, though steady, was strained, echoing unnervingly in the cavern, “you’re the grand prize for this little game.”
