Chapter 27
Unbridled Passion
Amy traced the worn spine of a leather-bound volume, its pages brittle with age and the weight of unspoken emotions. It was the earliest compilation, a raw outpouring born from the initial shockwaves of loss. The scent of decaying paper and dried ink, once a comfort, now felt like the very breath of her confinement. She had sifted through stacks of loose manuscripts, each a fragment of her shattered world, a testament to the years spent in this solitary dwelling, where dust motes danced like spectral ballerinas in the slivers of light that dared to penetrate the heavy draperies. As her eyes scanned the familiar lines, a tremor ran through her hand. This poem, more than any other, spoke of the consuming fire of a love that was both incandescent and doomed.

Drew me to depths where reason lost its way.
A kiss, a whisper, then the chilling dread,
Of dawn that broke, and left my spirit dead.
