He traced the worn leather of the satchel slung across his chest, the faint hum of the first artifact within a subtle thrum against his ribs. It felt less like a weapon now and more like a burden, a symbol of a path he was desperately trying to unmake.

Lyra sat beside him, her gaze fixed on the swirling nebulae that painted the viewport. Her presence was a quiet anchor in the storm of his thoughts. She hadn’t spoken much since their hasty departure from the hidden enclave of Elder Kael, but her silence was eloquent. It spoke of understanding, of a shared unspoken fear, and of a burgeoning hope that Delan clung to like a drowning man to driftwood. He stole glances at her profile, the gentle curve of her cheek, the way a stray lock of dark hair escaped her braid to frame her face. He found himself memorizing these small details, etching them into his mind as if they were precious maps to a future he was still sketching.

"He knows," Delan finally broke the silence, his voice rough. "Vorlag knows I didn't destroy the Starfire Shard."
