Elara sat cross-legged in the dappled shade of the ancient oak, the rough bark cool against her back. Her friends, Leo, Maya, and Sam, were scattered around her, their faces a mixture of openness and a familiar, lingering uncertainty. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, painting dancing patterns on the grass, but Elara felt a different kind of light stirring within her, a quiet, steady warmth that had become her constant companion. It was the light she had discovered, the one that had chased away her own shadows, and now, a new purpose bloomed in her heart: to help her friends find their own.
Leo, usually so boisterous, was tracing patterns in the dirt with a twig, a frown etched on his brow. "It's just… sometimes, Elara," he began, his voice hesitant, "I get scared. Like, really scared. What if something bad happens? What if I’m not good enough?" His words hung in the air, soft and vulnerable.
Maya, who always had a bright smile, was twisting a blade of grass between her fingers, her gaze distant. "I know what you mean, Leo. I worry about disappointing everyone. My parents, my teachers… even myself. It feels like a heavy blanket, all that worry."
