The phone call came on a Tuesday, a day like any other, ordinary and unassuming. The kind of day where the biggest decision might be what to make for dinner, or whether to brave the chill for a walk. But Tuesdays, I learned, could hold the weight of eternities. The voice on the other end was a stranger’s, calm and professional, delivering news that felt like a physical blow. My father was gone. He was the one who always had a story, a joke, a comforting arm around my shoulders. He was the steady, unwavering presence that made me feel safe, seen, and loved, unconditionally. And now, he was gone. The silence he left behind was deafening, a gaping void that threatened to swallow me whole.
