Turning Toward Morning

Night is long but dawn is sure, I open wide when light is pure — greet the sun with open face, build my hope in this safe space.

Longest nights have taught me how to wait,

hold my hope behind the shadows’ gate.

When stars fade soft and grey begins to creep,

I stretch my stem from out the quiet deep.

Slowly I turn where first the glow appears,

brush away the dust of heavy years.

Dawn spills warm across my upturned face,

filling every curve with golden grace.

New light heals what darkness tried to hide,

strengthens every part I hold inside.

With sunrise comes the will to start again,

leave the weight of yesterday behind me then.
