Chapter 12
Light for Little Faces
I shine so they won’t fear the dark, be their sun, their steady mark — let them laugh in warm bright rays, safe and loved through all their days.
I gather every ray I can find, and hold it close so they stay warm and kind. When shadows stretch and nights are long and deep, I glow bright gold to guard their gentle sleep. I turn my face to catch the morning fire, and share the warmth until their hearts aspire. No fear of dark where I have spread my shine — their joy is lit from every part of mine. I want them only knowing sunny days, to grow straight stems and walk in golden ways. Whatever storm I’ve weathered on my own, I keep the grey far from their happy home. They lift their heads and see the sun above, never suspecting I am made of love — their shining beacon, steady, soft, and true, blooming bright light for them, and then for you.
