The air in Amelia’s apartment was thick with a quiet sort of warmth, a stark contrast to the sterile efficiency of my corner office. Sunlight, filtered through the lace curtains, painted shifting patterns on the worn, comfortable rug. Leo was asleep on the sofa, a small, peaceful island amidst the gentle chaos of toys and books.
