The park was alive with the vibrant chaos of a Saturday afternoon. Sunlight dappled through the leaves of ancient oaks, casting dancing shadows on the emerald grass. Laughter, high-pitched and unrestrained, echoed from the playground where children tumbled and shrieked with glee. It was a world away from the hushed intensity of boardrooms and the calculated precision of my business dealings. And for the first time in a long time, I felt truly present, truly alive.

Amelia sat on a checkered picnic blanket, her gaze soft as she watched Leo, her son, chase a rogue butterfly. He was a whirlwind of energy, his small legs a blur as he darted across the lawn, his face alight with pure, unadulterated joy. A small, contented smile played on Amelia’s lips, a mirror of the quiet happiness blooming within me.

“He’s fearless, isn’t he?” I murmured, my voice laced with an admiration I hadn’t realized I possessed.
