Liam felt it the moment he saw her, a subtle shift in the air, a breath held too long. It was Elara, of course, her presence a vibrant splash of color against the muted tones of the gallery. But there was someone else, too, standing a few paces away, a study in quiet stillness. Emma Jones. He’d only seen her a handful of times since the initial chaotic reunion, mostly from a distance. Today, however, she was closer, and Liam found himself unexpectedly drawn to her.

She was a paradox, this Emma. All soft lines and downcast eyes, a perpetual sigh held within her delicate frame. Yet, there was a sharpness to her gaze when it flickered up, a hint of something profound beneath the placid surface. It was a look he recognized, a look he’d once worn himself – the look of someone adrift, lost in a storm of their own making, yet too weary to fight the waves.

He watched her for a moment, the gentle curve of her neck, the way her fingers traced the rim of her teacup with an almost imperceptible tremor. She seemed so fragile, like a bird with a broken wing, beautiful but undeniably wounded. Elara, on the other hand, was a force of nature, all sharp angles and fierce determination, a woman who built worlds with her bare hands. They were polar opposites, these two sisters, and Liam found himself wondering, with a pang he couldn’t quite explain, what invisible threads connected them.
