The hum of the station, usually a comforting lullaby, now felt like a nervous tremor beneath Elara’s feet. Each creak of the hull, each flicker of the comms panel, seemed to amplify the unspoken tension that had settled over the crew like a shroud. It had been days since the critical system failure, days since the external threat had been repelled, days since the fragile facade of friendship had shattered, revealing the raw, exposed nerves beneath. But perhaps not here.”
