And the source, the unthinkable source, was someone they had welcomed into their fold, someone they had trusted implicitly.

“Are you certain, Kael?” Anya’s voice was barely a whisper, a fragile thread of sound in the oppressive silence. The question hung in the air, heavy with disbelief and a dawning, bitter realization.
