The forest canopy, once a comforting embrace, now felt like a suffocating shroud. Each rustle of leaves, each snap of a twig, sent a jolt of unease through me. The familiar paths that had once led me to Tariro, to stolen moments of pure, unadulterated joy, were now fraught with a peril I had never imagined. The first few days were a blur of relentless riding, the rhythm of the horse’s hooves a monotonous drumbeat against the growing silence in my heart. The land, once a vibrant tapestry of life, now seemed indifferent, even hostile, to my plight.
